Wet and windy across far southern counties of England, heavy snow through cenrtal areas, clear and cold in the north

Good morning,

It's a very cold start out there with a widespread harsh frost, especially in the north. Outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow are now slowly moving northwards across England and Wales, with some significant snow set to develop through the rest of the morning across parts of Wales the Midlands in particular. Wet and windy weather will, however, dominate across SW England most counties south of the M4 corridor.

Through Sunday afternoon and persistent snow across parts of Wales, the Midlands and far southern regions of N England will bring increasingly large accumulations and distruptive conditions. Rain and showers are likely to continue across far southern counties of England, where it will also be very windy. In contrast much of Scotland, N Ireland and the far north of England will be mainly dry with sunny spells, but with a few snow showers filtering down into N Scotland. Very cold for all, some areas likely to have an 'ice day' with temperatures no rising above freezing.

Rain, sleet and snow becoming increasingly patchy across England and Wales, clearing away eventually, while some snow showers continue across N Scotland. Elsewhere it will be a dry night with prolonged clear spells and it will also be very cold with a widespread harsh and severe frost, especially over any snow cover, with some very low minimum temperatures likely across Scotland and down into N England in paticular.
