Rain fading central areas

Brighter skies north; a few showers western Scotland

Good morning,

High pressure is between the Azores and Biscay today, whilst low pressure is over the Norwegian Sea, producing a westerly airflow across the British Isles.

A cold front lies across central Britain, passing slowly southeastwards and tending to weaken. Rain for a time, heaviest for west Wales this morning but fading. A little rain reaching the south coast into the afternoon.

Brighter skies and cooler air for northern regions. Showers in western Scotland and the Northern Isles, turning wintry over the mountains. Pressure builds from the west later, allowing skies to clear and a touch of frost tonight.

Today's top temperatures will remain very mild in the south at 11 to 13C, but behind the front it will be nearer 7C for northern England, or 5C in Scotland.

Have a great day.
Garry
