Brighter from west

Wednesday
A front close to the east of Scotland and eastern England bringing some outbreaks of rain over much of Scotland, northern and eastern England on Wednesday morning. This rain slowly clears to the east, although there will stil be cloud, drizzle and rain affecting northeast Scotland throughout the day. Getting brighter across Wales, central and western England as well as Ireland. Sunny periods coming through, although a few showers over the far southwest. Highs at 5 to 9C.

Wednesday Night
Outbreaks of rain affecting southern Ireland, southern Wales and southwest England overnight. Further spells of drizzle for the far northeast of Scotland. Elsewhere it will be dry with clearer spells. Mist and fog patches will be forming as the night progresses and these will be freezing and dense in central and northern areas. Lows at -2 to 4C.

Thursday
A ridge of high pressure builds into Ireland and the west of the Uk through Thursday. Lower pressure is going to be over eastern areas. This enables there to be a fair amount of cloud with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Rather a lot of mist and some fog patches on Thursday morning too, these reluctant to clear some parts of the Midlands and northern England. Drier and brighter weather affecting Ireland and western Scotland, this weather slowly edging into western parts of England and Wales. More eastern and southern areas may stay dull. Highs at 4 to 8C.

Friday
Cloud and rain in Ireland on Friday with stronger winds here as fronts push in from the Atlantic. Higher pressure to the east will bring drier weather for much of the UK with plenty of cloud and just a few brighter spells. Highs at 4C in the east, 9C in the west.
