Brighter west later

Wednesday
Wednesday start fair for most with broken cloud and mostly dry conditions. There will be some sunny spells early in the morning in more eastern areas, but cloud increases from the west as a front moves in. A wetter start to the morning in Ireland and in western Scotland. This rain slips east through the morning, reaching Wales and western England. The rain then slides eastwards into the afternoon with more persistent rain in western Scotland. Brighter weather follows into Ireland with some showers in the far west. Windy in the UK, although these tending to ease in Ireland later. Highs at a mild 11C in southwest England, 5C in eastern parts of England and Scotland, turning cooler in ireland too.


Wednesday Night
The rain in the east is likely to be heavy fior a while overnight, before clearing eastern coasts by daybreak. Showers in western Scotland and western Ireland. Eastern Ireland and eastern Scotland as well as much of Wales and western England will be dry with clearer skies. Lows at 5C in the east but more widely -1 to -3C in Scotland and eastern Ireland.
 


Thursday
A brighter day for Thursday as a brisk westerly airflow becomes established across the whole of the UK and Ireland. Showers affecting western coasts and hills and some of these could be heavy at times in western Ireland and western Scotland. The showers will be wintry on the hills of the west. Most central and eastern areas staying dry with sunny spells and feeling chilly in the breeze. Highs at 4 to 9C.


Friday
A ridge of higher pressure building through England and Wales on Friday. This gives a mainly dry day with broken cloud and some bright or sunny spells. A front extends through Scotland and into Ireland giving cloud and outbreaks of rain and drizzle. There's litle change during the day with the rain staying in Ireland and western Scotland but other areas being dry. Highs at 5 to 7C.
