Low pressure to the north of Scotland continues to bring gale force winds to severe gales to parts of Scotland into northern England but should ease off later. Spells of rain to Scotland, clearing to brighter weather and showers in the afternoon, sleet and snow over hills. Cloud and showery rain pushing into northern England and Ireland, these wintry over hills also. Southern areas will be windy also but drier with broken cloud, though patchy drizzle over western coasts and hills. Highs at 8 to 12C for most but gradually turning cooler across Scotland.

Overnight, clear spells for many allowing for frost to develop widely and ice further north. Some sleet and snow showers affecting northern Scotland though mainly dry elsewhere. Lows at -1 to 3C.

Sunday will start off chilly with some frost about and quiet for many, before an area of low pressure and associated fronts push eastwards across the country strengthening the winds again. Rain turning increasingly to sleet and snow over the higher ground across Northern Ireland, Scotland, northern England and Wales. Rain not expected to reach southern England until later in the day. Highs at 6 to 9C.

A chilly northwesterly wind easing back through Monday. After a frosty start further north it will be a mainly dry and bright day but sleet and snow showers will affect northern Scotland. Showers also continuing to push down through Northern Ireland, the Irish Sea and on across parts of Wales as well as southwest England, wintry over the hills here. Highs at 5 to 8C.
