Morning Call - January 05, 2018
Remaining Unsettled
Mild

Issued: 0530hrs Friday 5th January 2018
Duty forecaster: Matthew Hugo

Showery weather dominates, still mild in the south but turning cold from the north later

Good morning,

Unsettled weather continues to dominate this morning with a rather awkward weather pattern in evidence as multiple areas of low pressure maintain a risk of rain and showers, particularly across parts of Scotland, Wales and SW England, with some drier weather in-between. Wintry precipitation is possible across higher ground of the north.

Through the afternoon and not a great deal of change is expected with further sporadic regions of rain and showers slowly moving southwards, but with some temporary drier and brighter weather in-between at times too. Further wintry precipitation is possible across northern hills, but increasing to lower levels across central and northern areas of Scotland as colder weather arrives here.

Further rain and showers, in places, will slowly move southwards overnight across England and Wales, despite some clearer spells at times too. Some wintry precipitation is possible across N England. Across Scotland and a more pronounced clearance to drier and colder weather is expected, this perhaps moving down into N England by the end of the night. Frost and ice a likely risk across the north too.
