Plenty of dry weather
Thundery showers south

Monday
A good deal of dry weather across the country. However, a risk of showers breaking out for central-southern England, with isolated thunderstorms possible. These will drift west toward the West Country and east Wales toward evening, but very hit and miss. Chance of an isolated burst of rain for the Midlands and Pennines. A front lies across western Scotland and Ireland, producing cloudy skies and persistent rain. Temperatures 18 to 24C, but just 10C in far north-west.

Monday night
Remnants of thundery showers will fade into the night for most southern areas. A chance of local showers moving back into the far south-east from the continent. Cloudy skies for Scotland and Ireland. Patchy rain and drizzle for north-west Scotland. Meanwhile, the Midlands, northern England and much of Wales should see clearing skies. Fairly light winds, but a brisk northerly around some coasts. Lows 7 to 12C.

Tuesday
High pressure centred north of Scotland generates an east to north-easterly breeze across Britain and Ireland, strongest near North Sea coasts where it will feel cool. Most places will be dry all day. Sunshine and broken cloud. The legacy of a front across Scotland and Ireland will maintain rather cloudy skies here. Local showers in south-east England, with a risk of an isolated thunderstorm. Highs 12 to 16C north, 18 to 23C south.

Wednesday
High pressure remains to the north, promoting an easterly flow across the British Isles. The strongest breeze is likely to affect southern areas. Dry overall, with good amounts of sunshine. A little fair-weather cloud may come and go. Small chance of a local shower for southern England by afternoon. Temperatures reaching 19 to 22C for most inland areas, locally warmer, but nearer 16C on many coasts, or just 13C in the north-east.
