Increasingly Unsettled Thereafter

Warm and fine weather will dominate into Bank Holiday Monday but the trend through the week will be for cooler and more unsettled conditions to develop.

Monday 7/5/18
Into Bank Holiday Monday and it is a fine start with some mist and fog patches but these soon clearing. Most of the day will then be dry across many areas with bright or sunny spells, these prolonged across England and Wales. All areas warm and locally very warm across parts of England and Wales. Later in the day across W Scotland and Ireland some rain or showers may arrive off the N Atlantic, along with a strengthening SW'ly wind, but winds elsewhere light. Highs 16C to 22C.

Tuesday 8/5/18
Into Tuesday and more unsettled and cooler conditions are forecast to slowly move across the British Isles. Some uncertainties over how quickly this will take place, but many northern and western areas will have a risk of some rain or showers, at times, through the day, while more southern and eastern areas may maintain some drier and sunnier conditions. Winds W or SW'ly light or moderate, fresh in the west. Highs 11C to 16C in the north and west, 16C to 20C in the far south and east.

Wednesday 9/5/18
Into next Wednesday and low pressure is forecast to become dominant just to the north-west of the British Isles and this will introduce a fairly cool and unsettled W or SW'ly weather type across many areas. Rain or showers possible in the north and west especially, perhaps locally heavy, while some drier and brighter intervals are possible in the south-east, but even here some showers are possible. Many areas cooler than previous days, winds W or SW'ly moderate or fresh. Highs around, 10C to 16C.

Thursday 10/5/18
A ridge of high pressure may develop just to the south by next Thursday bringing a better chance of drier and brighter, if not sunnier conditions across more southern and south-eastern areas of England. Further north and west though and unsettled conditions are likely to prevail with some rain or showers at times, locally heavy in places. Winds W or SW'ly light or moderate, but fresh in the north and west. Highs around 9C to 15C.

Friday 11/5/18
Uncertainites over the details by next Friday but the overal forecast remains similar to previous days with the best chance of some drier and brighter weather in the south and south-east, otherwise most of the British Isles will remain unsettled with some rain or showers at times, especially in the north and west where locally heavy. W or SW'ly winds, moderate or fresh, especially in the north and west. Low risk wet and windy weather may spread to all areas late in the day. Cool, Highs 10C to 16C.

Saturday 12/5/18
Little change by next Saturday at the moment with still low pressure set to be a dominant feature of the weather bringing further rain or showers to many areas, but particularly in the north and west, while some drier and brighter weather is possible in the south and east. Winds W or SW'ly light or moderate. Highs 10C to 16C.
