Plenty of dry weather with some chilly nights

Dry weather is going to be dominant during the coming week. High pressure is in control of the weather allowing for some decent spells of sunshine. There is a risk of some cloud and spots of rain affecting more southern and eastern areas into the later stages of the weekend and early next week. Temperatures will be warm in the sunshine with some cool nights.

Saturday 19/5/18
High pressure stays over the UK and Ireland on Saturday. This is set to bring another fine day with plenty of sunshine after a cool start. Thicker cloud and brisker southerly winds moving into western Ireland and the west of Scotland during the afternoon. Most areas enjoying a dry and fine day with sea breezes. Just a very low risk of an isolated shower over the Welsh hills and Pennines in the afternoon. Tops at 17 to 22C.

Sunday 20/5/18
A ridge of high pressure extends through most of eastern Scotland, England and Wales on Sunday from a high centred over Scandinavia. This brings another fair day with good spells of sunshine, although a more notable breeze on eastern coasts. Fronts moving into western areas, along with a small area of low pressure brings cloud and rain to Ireland and the far west of Scotland. with increased cloud over western parts of England and Wales. Highs at 24C in central England, 14C in western Ireland.

Monday 21/5/18
Pressure stays high overall on Monday as the flow becomes rather slack. Weak fronts in Ireland and western Scotland probably giving cloud and some light outbreaks of rain here. More broken cloud and good spells of sunshine elsewhere, although the chance of an afternoon shower just about anywhere away from eastern coasts. Highs at 14C in cloudier parts of Scotland and Ireland, 22C in central and southern England.

Tuesday 22/5/18
Pressure stays high through Tuesday. There is likely to be more cloud than recent days, the highest risk of this to the south and east. Brighter in the north and west with a low chance of a passing shower. Highs at 16 to 20C.

Wednesday 23/5/18
High pressure stays dominant through the country on Wednesday. There is a risk of some patchy rain in the south as a shallow area of low pressure moves through northern France. Generally the day should be fair with sunny spels, the best of these in the north and west. Highs at 15 to 21C.

Thursday 24/5/18
Pressure stays high on Thursday. It should be a fair day with sunny spells for most. Some cloud and stronger winds in western Scotland and western Ireland. Highs at 17 to 22C.
